Lerman & Hicks cover Calendar use well. I would note, however, that Google Gears, mentioned on page 133, does not work on Macs at all, and does not work with some browsers even on a Windows machine. (Ironically, Chrome was one of the browsers that Gears would not work with, although that may be remedied, now.) Depending on how the "lock down" is configured, Gears also may conflict with some IT login systems (by not permitting free data exchange with Google Docs by Gears when the computer is online, according to some reports.

Although Lerman & Hicks give a thorough introduction to the Calendar, you may also want to explore the Calendar Overview. To be sure you have "covered it all," please go to the Google Calendar Helps Page. The link for "Tasks" covers the to-do list function. Probably the links under "Sharing and Invitations" would be useful, as well. Feel free to browse further, as you wish.

Alternatively, you may find the Google Tools screencasts at iTunesU useful (iPod on your iPad).

To review what you have learned in the text, consider Google "Calendar Introduction," "Creating a New Calendar," and especially "Google Calendar for Lesson Planning." Also there is a pdf Google Calendar in iBook collection of PDFs you might find helpful.

What are three ways (be specific) you could use Calendar (including the Tasks function) as a teacher and with students in your classroom? Comment via a reply to the topic "Calendar" on the GAIN-CPED5300 discussion group at Google Groups.
